Blogging 101 with my students

Those who knew me as a teenager would be astonished to find out that I not only have a  blog of my own but also that I have taken ten of my teenage students to the school´s computer lab so that they could start their blogs for a pioneering project. When I was their age I refused to even get close to a computer…sure, computers were much slower and more scarce back then, but still I wanted nothing to do with technology. I was pretty much a hippie wannabe at that time and only learned to use a computer when I started college, getting placed in Basic Computer lessons together with two other kindred souls who equally despised computers. Since then I can say I have come a long way.

Anyway, after this huge digression, I got my students to start their blogs for a class project earlier this week and it went surprisingly well. They decided to work on their blogs in pairs rather than follow my proposal that they have their individual blogs, which sounded like a better idea in the end. It took them no time to figure it all out and soon they were posting their first lines, picking out images for their themes and uploading videos onto their pages.

While some were quick to get posting, others seemed at a loss for words to write on their blogs. Just like myself when I got involved in the blog project in the first place.

I´ve got some ideas about what to do with my page now but don´t know yet how to get them done- need some more time to learn to get the stuff I want added to my blog. I have a feeling that my students will be teaching me how to do that as we go along.
